Different Types of Veneers

Dental veneers are an extremely popular and versatile cosmetic dental option that can improve the beauty of your smile dramatically. When you have imperfections in your smile that are caused by discoloration, cracks, chips, or even misalignment and spacing issues, dental veneers can help!

Many people don’t realize that there are a lot of different dental veneer options to choose from. Over the past couple years, many different techniques and brands of dental veneers have emerged, each with their unique offering. At Dallas Prosthodontics, we are committed to helping our patients achieve the smile of their dreams, and we are confident that we can help you find the right dental veneer to fit your smile!

Which type of veneer is the best for me?

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain has long been used in restorative and cosmetic dentistry because of its unique ability to match the look of natural teeth. Porcelain is also strong enough to last a long time in your mouth while helping you to chew your food. Porcelain is a high-quality ceramic that reflects light in much the same way your natural teeth do, giving them a flawless and convincing aesthetic. Porcelain veneers are hand-crafted to match your teeth perfectly and give you the exact look you desire.

Lumineers®

Lumineers® offer a unique and extremely conservative approach to dental veneers that can have a stunning impact on the look of your smile. They are made to offer an extremely comfortable and natural looking experience while minimizing the alteration to your natural teeth. Normally, dental veneers require a certain amount of alteration to your teeth to work, but with Lumineers® we can limit or even forgo the process of tooth alteration. Lumineers® are made of a special porcelain blend that allows them to be even thinner while maintaining their strength and luster.

Composite Resin

Composite resin has become a staple of restorative and cosmetic dental procedures over the last few decades because of its extreme versatility, strength, and aesthetic appeal. Composite resin is the same material that we use to perform tooth-colored fillings. We can use composite resin to fill cracks and chips or even to craft full veneers. Composite resin offers a low-cost, quick solution to your cosmetic dental needs. Composite resing veneers may not last as long as other forms of veneers, and they will sometimes become damaged more easily than some of their porcelain counterparts. In most cases, we will suggest composite resin veneers when the alterations that need to be made are minimal.

CEREC® Veneers

CEREC®, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, allows us to craft custom veneers for you right away, the same day as your appointment. We use a special mill, which uses high-pressure jets of water to cut custom ceramic veneers out of blocks of raw, ceramic material. Ceramics are very popular in restorative and cosmetic dentistry due to their unique strength and long life.
