Well-maintained dentures last for an extended period. Here are some tips on how to care for your dentures:

Remove and Rinse

After eating, it is crucial to take out and rinse your dentures. Hold them under running water to eliminate any food debris. To prevent accidental breakage, it's a good idea to place a towel in the sink, or you can even fill the sink with water as a cushion in case the dentures slip from your hands. This precaution ensures the safety of your dentures while cleaning them.

Hold Your Dentures Gently

You must handle your dentures with care to avoid damaging or dropping them. Take care to support them properly and avoid applying excessive force or pressure.

Brush Your Dentures

Gently brush your dentures using a soft-bristled toothbrush. Ensure you clean all surfaces. Besides, make sure you clean your cheeks, tongue, and your mouth's roof. This helps remove bacteria and freshen your breath. If you use denture adhesive, carefully remove any remaining adhesive residue from your gums. Follow the instructions provided with the adhesive for proper removal techniques.

Soak Your Dentures Overnight

You have to keep your dentures moist to maintain their shape and integrity. Put your dentures in water overnight to prevent them from drying out and losing shape. Avoid using hot water, as it can cause warping. You consult your dentist for specific storage instructions based on your denture type.

Routine Dental Check-ups

It is crucial to follow your dentist's recommendations regarding regular visits for denture examination and professional cleaning. These visits are essential for maintaining optimal oral health and denture function. During exams, your dentist will evaluate your dentures to ensure they fit correctly. If not, the dentist will make any necessary adjustments to prevent slippage or discomfort.
