![]() Why Dentures Do Not FitTypically, perfectly fitting dentures will not require an adhesive to keep them in place. This is why if you do notice that your dentures are slipping or just not fitting correctly, we ask that you please schedule a checkup with us before you decide to invest in an adhesive. Once we have examined your dentures, if getting them refitted is not something you are ready to do, you can use a dental adhesive to keep them in place for the time being.Be aware when you are choosing a dental adhesive that some of them have been linked to zinc poisoning. Even though zinc is a naturally occurring nutrient and our bodies do need it, there is the reality of too much of a good thing and it can lead to some serious problems. Your best defense is to take the time to educate yourself about the adhesive you have chosen. If your dentures are fitting well in your mouth, and you would just like the added security of an adhesive, be sure to follow the instructions on your adhesive of choice exactly. Too much adhesive can change your bite and cause jaw problems in addition to causing extra wear on your dentures. It is normal for dentures to become loose over time, and this is why we recommend that you see us regularly for exams. We can make sure that your dentures are serving you well and if they do need to be adjusted, we are happy to help you with that. We look forward to hearing from you soon! |
